Who We Are

About DSO Kenya

A registered Community Based Organization founded on one principle: no Kenyan patient should be denied life-saving specialist care because of cost, geography, or lack of information.

Our Foundation

Doctor's Second Opinion — Kenya's Healthcare Bridge

DSO Kenya is a registered Community Based Organization (CBO) based in Nyeri, Kenya, with active community health representation across all 47 counties. DSO Kenya was established to close the most critical gap in Kenya's healthcare landscape: the complete absence of a structured, governed, and affordable pathway from rural patients to world-class specialist care.

We exist because a cancer diagnosis in Kisumu should not carry a different survival probability than one in Nairobi. Because a child born with a cardiac defect in Turkana deserves the same surgical expertise as one born anywhere in the world. Because geography and poverty should never be a death sentence.

DSO Kenya connects Kenyan patients — at zero cost to those who qualify — to specialist care at JCI- and NABH-accredited hospitals in India through our exclusive partnership with AeroMedicare.

Our Vision

A Kenya — and an Africa — where no patient dies from a condition that is treatable, simply because they could not reach a specialist.

Our Mission

To eliminate the systemic barriers of cost, distance, and information that prevent Kenyans with complex and life-threatening conditions from accessing specialist diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care.

The AeroMedicare Advantage

Seamless Logistics

AeroMedicare handles medical tourism logistics and air ambulance services, ensuring patients travel safely and reach India without stress or confusion.

Priority Patient Status

DSO Kenya patients are not anonymous arrivals — they receive seamless reception, priority management, and personalised guidance throughout their full recovery journey.

Pre-Negotiated Institutional Rates

AeroMedicare's MOUs with hospital networks across 8 Indian cities secure institutional pricing by treatment — from about USD 8,750 all-inclusive for cardiac surgery, with other pathways priced to the procedure.

What Guides Us

Our Values

Equity

We believe specialist healthcare is a right, not a privilege. Every decision DSO Kenya makes is tested against one question: does this serve the most vulnerable patient?

Integrity

Every shilling of donor funding is tracked, audited, and reportable. No patient is sent abroad without clinical approval. Transparency is non-negotiable.

Dignity

Patients are not cases — they are people. We walk alongside families through their most frightening moments with both clinical access and human presence.

Clinical Rigour

Our Head Doctor, specialist partners, and dual-gate accountability protocol ensure clinical decisions are never compromised for cost or convenience.

Community First

Our Community Health Representatives mean the most rural patient is as visible to DSO Kenya as a patient in Nairobi.

Long-Term Impact

From the Life-Saving Pathway launching in 2027 to DSO 2.0 across Africa by 2036 — we build for permanence, not just urgency.

Our India Partnership

World-Class Care at a Fraction of the Cost

Through our exclusive partnership with AeroMedicare — a specialised branch of AeroTech India — DSO Kenya patients receive priority care at India's top JCI- and NABH-accredited hospital networks across 8 major cities.

Kenya is consistently ranked among India's top source countries for medical tourism, within a sector valued at USD 8.71 billion in 2025. DSO Kenya brings this access to patients who could never navigate it alone.
